Middle School Traditions

All Middle School

Fall

  • Stock Market Game - Teams compete in a virtual reality Stock Market Game. In this exercise, students learn a bit of American history, as well as background information on businesses, free enterprise, how to make wise decisions, how to implement strategies, math challenges and how to work as a team. They also see how current events affect the Stock Market. FBA has been a tough competitor for other schools in our Region as we consistently rank at the top.
  • Music -
    All Region Auditions - Seventh and eighth grade choir and band students learn the same pieces of music and audition against other students in our region. A small percentage of students make the all-region choir and attend a choir clinic and concert. Students rehearse and perform music with a guest clinician and conductor.

    Pep Rally - Seventh and eighth grade Concert band perform at the pep rallies throughout the year.

November

  • Spirit Week - Sponsored by Student Council, Spirit Week is a fun-filled week that leads up to the Second Baptist football game. Each day is marked by a different theme - i.e. "Dress as your favorite teacher" day or "Twin Day." Awards are given for the best dressed boy and girl in each grade. On Thursday of Spirit Week, teachers bake goodies that are auctioned off to the students during lunch. Thursday afternoon, cheerleaders host a pep rally to help get the football team get ready for the BIG game. FBAPA hosts "tailgate parties" to help everyone get their spirit up before the game.
  • Veterans Day - Choir performs and students honor Veterans at this special Chapel ceremony .
  • Fall Athletic Banquet - Honors our scholar athletes on the cross country, football and volleyball teams.

December

  • Fall Fine Arts Festival - Middle School students have an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. During the Fine Arts Festival, student artwork is displayed and the choir and band perform for students and parents.

Spring

  • Choir and Band Solo and Ensemble Contest - Students perform a solo and/or ensemble in front of a judge for a critic and a rating. If the student qualifies, the judge will reward the student with a first division rating and a medal.
  • Choir and Band Spring Contest - Concert & Sight Reading - Seventh and Eighth grade Concert choir members learn and perform for judges. Students receiving the highest rating, a first division superior rating, receive a trophy. Winners then go on to a sight-reading contest and perform a song they have never seen before. If successful, they again will receive a trophy for a first division rating.

March

  • Interim Term - Students participate in three days of co-curricular activities that expand their ability to apply what they learn in the classroom and develop creativity and a sense of community.

April

  • Warrior Week - Spiritual Emphasis Week for all Middle School students. Students attend a special Chapel each day where they receive spiritual guidance for personally encountering the Lord each day. This is accomplished in the Chapel with special guests, prayer and worship.
  • Spring Fine Arts Festival - Middle School students have an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. During the Fine Arts Festival, student artwork is displayed and the choir and band perform for students and parents.

May

  • Hot Topics (Bible) - During two to three weeks of Bible, the goal is to provide the students with biblical answers to the most commonly asked (and often neglected) questions by middle school students. These questions range from "What does the Bible say about keeping the Sabbath?" to "What does the Bible say about profanity?"
  • Concert Choir and Band Auditions
  • Spring Athletic Banquet - Honors our scholar athletes on the basketball, cheerleading, lacrosse and track teams.
